Kailash Parbat | Our Story
The Legend, since 1952
What began as a roadside chaat stall in 1940s Karachi has grown, across three generations of one family, into one of the world's most beloved vegetarian Indian restaurant brands. This is not a story about a restaurant — it is a story about a legacy carried in recipes, resolve, and family.
Born in Karachi, reborn in Bombay
The Mulchandani brothers set up their first chaat stall in pre-Partition Karachi in the 1940s — and the neighborhood couldn't get enough. When Partition uprooted their lives, they carried their recipes and their resolve to Bombay, where Kailash Parbat was officially born in 1952.
Three generations, one unbroken thread
From the founding brothers to Kamlesh, Amit, Jai, and Manoj Mulchandani today, the Legend has never left family hands. Eight decades on, the same dedication to craft that shaped the original halwai's kitchen still governs every kitchen the brand calls its own.
A table set across the world
From Colaba to Singapore, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and now across the United States — 85+ outlets in 11+ countries — the recipes have traveled far, and the soul has not changed by a single ingredient. Wherever the Legend opens its doors, the same warmth and the same chutneys follow.
The chaat that started it all
The Chaat Baar is the heart of everything: pani puri, bhel puri, papdi chaat, aloo tikki, samosa chaat — bold, tangy street food that made the Mulchandani name famous on Bans Road. Guests come back again and again, and they always say the same thing: it tastes exactly like home.
100% pure vegetarian, proudly
Vegetarian is not a restriction here — it is a heritage identity, worn with quiet pride across eight decades. From North Indian curries to South Indian dosas, Indo-Chinese favourites, and a dedicated Jain menu, every dish proves that plant-based cooking can be extraordinary.
